You will help us free fly our falcons on the cliffs of La Jolla at the Torrey Pines Gliderport, a National Historical Place and beloved landmark. In our Experience, offered through Total Raptor Experience San Diego, you'll learn how to call and release one of our trained birds using a falconry glove, and admire their aerial skills while they soar above the cliffs. You'll get an up-close and personal view of their mastery of flight as they perform simulated hunting behaviors, swooping, ground-skimming and diving at high speed after a moving target. La Jolla Bay is a Marine Protected Area that is home to a thriving ecosystem that boasts a high concentration of sea life, has a natural boat launch, which allows safe ocean entry year-round, and is famous for its Sea Caves and Marine Reserve. No experience is required. Great for all skill levels. Your guide will kick things off with a paddle tutorial on the beach. If surf exists, we will help push your kayak through any breakers. As we paddle through La Jolla’s Marine Reserve keep an eye out for Seals, Sea Lions, Sea Turtles, Pelicans, Dolphin and Gray whales in the fall/winter. Note: We cannot guarantee sea life. If conditions are safe, we will help guide your kayak into Emerald Cave. If it's not safe to enter Emerald Cave, we will still paddle out & explore La Jolla's World-Famous Marine Reserve. Your visit with Bike & Kayak Tours, Inc. will begin at our storefront, located just two short blocks from the beach. Once properly outfitted for your adventure with lifejackets and helmets, we will walk down to the La Jolla shores beach. Select the last time available each day and enjoy the Caves Kayak Tour at sunset! Once down on the beach we will begin our paddle instruction where you will learn how to paddle the kayak efficiently and comfortably, before our beach crew assists us out through the surf. On our way to the caves you will learn all about the wildlife that is found in La Jolla, which is home to an ecological reserve boasting three different types of habitats. Note: If we determine that the water conditions are unsafe to enter the Clam's Cave you will be provided with a voucher to enter the only land accessible cave called Sunny Jim's cave. Update: We have been OPEN and SAFE since May, 2020 The La Jolla Ecological Reserve is the premiere kayak and snorkeling spot on California’s coast. To fully interact with all the amazing sea life in the area, our kayak and snorkel tour is a great option. The coolest part bout this experience is you get to see what's above and below the water! We kayak over by Sunny Jim's cave, where your guide will anchor the kayaks together. While snorkeling we see sea lions, seals, bat rays, Garibaldi (Nemo's Cousin), and sometimes sea turtles. Note: we cannot guarantee what sea life or any sea life we will encounter. La Jolla Bay is the premier snorkeling spot along Southern California's coast, but there are days that the visibility might only be 5 feet or can be as good as 50 feet. This tour is 2 hours and typically we snorkel for 20-30 minutes, max. Being able to swim is advised. If conditions are not safe enough to anchor the kayaks at Sunny's Jim's cave we will instead snorkel the kelp forest. Note: We DO NOT kayak or snorkel inside any of any caves on this tour. Forneceremos uma manta de ondas macia de 2 metros e um traje de mergulho que se encaixa na composição do seu corpo. Começaremos na fase de interação, onde desenvolveremos uma melhor compreensão de sua experiência anterior, estilo de aprendizagem desejado e analisaremos qualquer dúvida que você possa ter antes de iniciar o processo de aprendizagem. Começaremos colocando você em um traje de mergulho de sua escolha. (10 minutos) Para mudar, você usará os banheiros públicos fornecidos na Ocean Beach. Uma vez alterado, iniciaremos o processo de ensino analisando os riscos de segurança, a etiqueta adequada e a técnica formal na areia. (10 minutos) Assim que você se sentir confortável e entender a primeira fase de aprendizagem na areia, faremos a transição para o oceano. Uma vez no oceano, começaremos em águas rasas implementando o que você aprendeu na areia, para viver a ação. Isso incluirá demonstrar sua capacidade de remar adequadamente, ganhar impulso com a onda e se levantar adequadamente. Ficaremos nas águas rasas praticando os fundamentos básicos até que você se sinta confortável e demonstre que está pronto para progredir em águas mais profundas. O mais importante é se divertir e ser você mesmo.
